Google Hummingbird Algorithm SEO Update

The latest Google algorithm update has been code named the Hummingbird. For all those who have no idea what some of the words up there mean, let’s just say an algorithm is the SEO juju in the back that makes search engines relate your site to the reader’s search terms. In really basic summary, when someone keys in ‘make money online Kenya’ for instance, there is a high chance that they will land on this site.

Now the way the robot figures that out is what the algorithm is about. So Google has surprised us first by running the Hummingbird update for a whole month before telling us things have changed. They have surprised us second by alerting to the fact that things have changed and nothing has changed. In my opinion (IMO) that is probably a very good thing. Since no one has yet threatened to sue them for loss of traffic numbers, we can rest calm in the knowledge that there is not much that will shift around in the way you have been doing your SEO (search engine optimization).

Ten Things You Must Not Do At an End of Year Staff Party

End of year parties will swing into action starting this week. This is one forum where all staff at all levels will meet, and the potential leaders will be under heavy scrutiny. It is as though this is the ground where the now ageing managers come to hunt for promotion material.

The statistics among HR 'let's fire them or something' practitioners say that employees who behave badly at end of year staff parties are unlikely to fare well in the company in the long term. Lets figure that one out in employee speak; if you do something insane-ish at the end of year staff party, when your name comes up for promotion in kindu three years time, some hater is likely to say… 'but do you remember how she drank at the 2010 Christmas party?'

Seriously; that mama in HR that greets you with a smile daily is not your buddy – trust me. If you have any plans of progress towards those upper floor offices with wall to wall carpeting, here are ten things you must not do at the annual end of year Christmas party:

One: do not go heavy on the drink no matter what! 
Now I know that free booze is a complete turn on to get your drinking mind all set to work on it, but the thing is, typically when you are high you are likely to say nutty things. Secondly, you are likely to do nutty things; like stare too long at the gal in accounts or that hot jamaa in salaries (whichever your orientation).

Truth be told, there will be stone cold sober fellows at the party and in my years of interacting with both boozers and non-boozers, there is zero tolerance for ill on-booze behavior amongst

You have worked with her on your jobs in Kenya for some time, and one fine morning in the middle of nowhere it hits you that she is interested in you not just for your brains, but for the kind of help that would cause the hubby to purchase the services of a hit squad.

The best way forward, is to sit up straight in your chair, and watch. Start to really watch. There are two things that are possible; either the woman really does like you in a decent way and simply enjoys working with you. In that case, if you introduce vibe tending towards a physical relationship, you have messed the chemistry and you immediately jeopardize your jobs in Kenya.

The second thing that is possible is that she really does need some help. (The older women will kill me after this, but too bad – it is the truth.)

If you read she is serious, after keen observation over time, tempt the discussion with questions.

If she is serious for sure and your ethics, and morality are not in your way, plan your way to some juicy perks which means that you give her what she wants, but at a price.

Do not get out of it empty handed, but do not ever, no matter how drunk you shall ever be, talk about it as long as you work in that firm. If she is married – it could cost you your life. If she is single… then well… who knows. There are benefits to being Wambui Otieno's hubby – if you catch my drift.

Meanwhile, also create a departure strategy to a better paying job as soon as possible. Those on-the-job alliances never last. The other morally boosted position is, to make friends with her and kill your frustrations elsewhere. These jobs in Kenya are tough to come by and you may want to keep yours long.

With the high incidence of successful, fit with not a drop of flab, single and most often married-but-starved and longing-for-great-action women found in top jobs in Kenya, the incidence of men harassed by their senior bosses is going up. No, do not call in the cops – it is not an alarming rise, though the husbands should really start re-thinking their game at home.

Let us say after some search for jobs in Kenya you did get one and your 'God she is hot!' female boss is indicating she needs some help and it is far from being the kind of help her husband or her pastor would applaud; what to do?

First cue; get a life! Women rarely ever get the 'hots' for someone they just met, unless she is a real slut in which case you are simply another pawn in her game. When they do, they will bide their time, work closely with you and develop that thing men fear called 'relationship'. Then she shall go for the prize. Therefore, if you think she 'wants' you, you are deceiving your self and are ripe fodder on the list of those that lose jobs in Kenya. Women at the top are very intolerant of men who get in the way of their success.

The history of this blog is long, and I will not tire you with it. The good news is you are here and you are a beneficiary of the years that have brought it where it is now. I first started actively working with the unemployed, new graduates, and people searching for jobs in Kenya two years ago. In that time, I have learned a lot. The most important thing that I have learned is that there are numerous sites offering you links to companies that offer jobs, but not one site that gives you tangible, concrete, counsel on how to go about finding a job in Kenya.

Third, no matter how many CVs you fill and how many interviews you sit, you will keep going round and round in circles, waste a year or more struggling to find a job in Kenya, only to finally take a job you dislike and that pays peanuts – unless – you know how to get the job search results you desire.

Jobs Kenya - Why Right Job Ethics Help You Keep Your Job

Timotheus (not his real name) waltzed into the office as he usually does; late.

Today he is forty five minutes late and by his gait I can tell he makes no apologies for this.

Last week, I asked the HR office to find out his reasons for coming in late consistently. I became concerned because I have bumped into him on more than three occasions on his way in anywhere in the range of thirty to an hour and a half after reporting time.

HR got back to me and said he claimed the road on the route where he lived was under construction and the traffic has become unthinkable.

On the one hand that reason is sound, but the execution is pathetic. I agree, it is not totally impossible for a road under construction to be done in a way that completely ignores that there are scores using that road to get to work. Therefore, the construction work will fail to provide an alternative that ensures working hours are not interfered with. That is our part of the world; time is just a number.
