How Can I Get Paid To Work Online In Kenya?

To find out more about how you can use the internet to make money in Kenya, click on the MFB Business opportunity anywhere on this blog!

If you are in Kenya and you would like to know how to get paid to work online in Kenya, there is no one straight answer. It really depends on what you want to do. The nature of the internet is that no one is the boss to the other and so only the alert and self-driven make it online. You cannot be a laid-back-stroll-to-work individual and make it online.

To begin with the competition is insane and the speed at which people think and innovate is scandalous. You really must have the attitude of 'ni bidii yangu' (my success depends on me) to get ahead. In this article, I deal with one way to get paid working online – working for others.

Affiliate Marketing
The one method that is fastest to make money online in Kenya is to be an affiliate marketer. If you do not know who to work with, Click on the banner above. Open a FREE account and start to earn as you earn to be a successful affiliate marketer.

How to get paid online working for others as a freelancer
The first option to earn you money working online is to work for others. The familiar word used for this is 'freelance' work. You may also have heard of the term outsourcing. In the brick and mortar companies (the ones that have visible tangible offices) the term outsourcing means to get company 'a' to do project 'x' for us, but we still have all our operations in place. Online it means you can have a whole industry in place without having a single employee. You only have a host of freelancers doing 'a', 'b' and 'c' for you from wherever.

Kenya, alongside South Africa, India (I think Bangladesh mainly), and some small pockets in China are getting ahead F-A-S-T to the forefront of being outsourcing hubs of choice. Companies, or individuals post their jobs online, and a faceless human being enters into transaction with them, gets paid and life moves on.

There are many places for these kinds of jobs. The best way is to do a Google or Yahoo search (these are the largest search engines and therefore pretty comprehensive), and key in 'freelance jobs' and see what you get. Two of the more reliable outsourcing sites are Freelancer.com and Elance.com

When you look through their job categories you will get a fairly good idea of what would work for you and then decide where you fit in. Writing and website design are the most common, although sites like Elance have a whole range of office support jobs (Virtual Assistant) like answering phones, etc. Another sample of online jobs that you may wish to look for are found on 'gig' sites. Now this is an interesting brand of work where you self advertise and say what you are willing to do and for how much money.

Here you will get an idea of what you can do by looking at what gig offers are being made. They can be a lot of fun if you are not really desperate for the dollar you will make and you can throw in some terrible prices to do a serious job. An example of a 'gig' site is Reddit.com five dollar gigs.  You can also search for 'freelance gigs' or 'ten dollar gigs' and see what you get. These can be quite an awakening.

The other way to get paid to work online in Kenya is to work for your self. One arm of working for yourself is to do the same freelance work, but from a slightly different angle. I will deal with those in another article.

How do you receive money for work done in Kenya
To date, and there is a lot of that discussion on Google Baraza, I know of one way only that is both legal and easy to enter that you can use to bring money into Kenya – the Payoneer or Master Card option. Payoneer are a card company that gives services to several online companies that need to pay their affiliates or freelancers. You can therefore get this card through many companies. The one I am sure of because I am a member is Triple Clicks, which is the products arm of SFI Marketing Group. I do not claim this is the easiest way to get this card, it worked for me because I have a fair understanding of network marketing and could make money happen to qualify for a card.

Most of the platforms that I mentioned earlier in this post will pay by Paypal, and whereas you can use the card above, the process is tedious and has no guarantees. We are therefore currently bringing paypal money into Kenya through the Epay platform. Read my experience with them on this post. There are also online shylocks that will charge you 30% or more to bring your money in and pay you by MPESA. Many are frauds, so be very wary. I would not use them, and I therefore will not honor them with a link here.
